![]() Then comes the big picture: since your land forces cannot really push anyway, enemy may forego land Investment and go AS+CAS to melt the HTD and THEN push. (Also, I feel that 3 HTD isn't really Space Marines, because well, that is the low cost exploit tactic)Īfter all, these "hard" divisions can be countered by similar divisions with say medium TD, negating the hard attack and piercing stats, making Original space marines better and then.you get it. If you take few HTD, you get better stats, but Equipment loss hurts more, with more HTD, it's the other way around, plus tremendous burden on the Economy. Meaning that staying power might become an issue, despite the Higher tank killing capacity. ![]() That means, once losses start, the HTD battalions will quickly lose efficiency, because a) their Armour is low b) HP are lower than in the infantry AT division, as is org and defense (for the 2 and 3 HTD divisions). (If concentrated to counter Armour push, it's another matter.) Major issue is the low Equipment count of the HTD battalions and cost of the Equipment, while spreading across entire fronts. Do you have enough oil to field them en masse? What countries could do such things and are they paying a steep price for rushing the tank techs by neglecting other stuff? I see a 1 on 1 mismatch but in the greater picture? Can one still lose strategically although having the glorified space marines? The formations lack AA-capabilities so are air strikes a viable option to bleed the player using them out with cheaper stuff? What happens with infra bombing places they set up? Can one deny resources needed to build them (talking chromium mostly) Are CAS a counter? Can we put attrition onto our enemy? Seeing the formation uses steel, chromium and aluminum this is rather costly, produced slowly and not cheap. Now back to the game and how to unlimber them. TDs acted as firebrigade and temporarily mixed up with infantry to repel tanks which would lead to a formation of "space marines". This won't happen here in the game which tells me that something with the current design of the mechanics is afoul since we are thinking about banning stuff totally happening in reality. In reality they would loose most times versus a mobile force with enough suppression fire. ![]() Why? Beacuse the infantry still is soft and squishy and the support vehicles the heavy tanks are relying on like fuel trucks would not survive either so the tanks could be stranded without support and are far too slow to retreat properly. A formation heavy with artillery should be ale to wipe away such a formation. This is the point, where abstraction leads to unrealistical results. You cannot break the stalemate with land divisions and this seems possible, if I look at the values. You pointed out, that the space marines are not good at offense, right? So basically, there is no real need to attack those formations. ![]()
